Overview

Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn at 916 Clarkson Ave, West Cuisine offers a genuine taste of Caribbean, with a sharp focus on Grenadian flavors that transport you straight to the islands. This intimate spot, often described by patrons as a "hole in the wall," excels in delivering authentic, home-style dishes that hold strong to tradition while inviting newcomers to explore rich culinary heritage.

The restaurant's menu is a vibrant tapestry of Caribbean staples, starting with breakfast options like bakes paired with saltfish or fishcakes, complemented by comforting bush herbal teas and cornmeal porridge. These dishes nod deeply to local Grenadian breakfast customs, showcasing fresh, made-from-scratch preparations that emphasize both flavor and cultural roots.

For lunch and dinner, West Cuisine stays true to its island soul. Signature selections include the revered "oil down"—a hearty one-pot meal bursting with provisions, salted fish, and rich seasonings—available especially on Saturdays and praised by many customers as the kind you’d find at grandma’s kitchen back in Grenada. Curry goat, stew chicken, and seafood waters further illustrate the kitchen’s command of Caribbean classic meats and spices.

The bakery complements the savory offerings impeccably. Onsite creation of bake goods such as coconut buns, black cake, currant rolls, and the highly lauded coconut tarts demonstrates a commitment to freshness and authenticity. Notably, their wedding and birthday cakes cater to special occasions, all crafted with care, including vegan and whole wheat options that accommodate a variety of dietary preferences without compromising traditional flavors.

Though the space is compact, the atmosphere brims with genuine warmth and hospitality that guests consistently celebrate. This is a place where the food is the centerpiece, grounding the experience in community and cultural pride. Customer feedback highlights the seamless blend of taste and familiarity—whether you’re a local craving the comfort of home-cooked Grenadian meals, or an adventurous eater eager to delve into true Caribbean cuisine.

Given the high demand and chef’s attention to every dish, calling ahead for takeout is advised, ensuring your meal is ready without a long wait. West Cuisine’s approach embodies a slow, mindful preparation process that honors island time and culinary tradition alike.

In summary, West Cuisine stands as a vital gateway to authentic Grenadian food in Brooklyn. It serves not just as a restaurant but as a cultural refuge for those seeking the flavors and spirit of the Caribbean—delivered with passion, skill, and an unmistakable island touch.

The place is a 'hole in a wall' but true Grenadian hospitality and the food is great authentic and tasty. Try the island's main dish 'oil down' available on Saturdays its just as u would get from a grandma on the island. A 10 for taste

Whenever I visit this establishment. I am treated very professionally by everyone. What I do like about this business I can call on the phone, place my order and pick up. What stood out for me. I didn’t have enough cash on me, it’s a cash only business. The lady told me you can always bring back the money. There she had a customer for LIFE. Thank you for always taking great care of me.
